Teacher Gigi has some terrific stuff going on in her classroom! The students in Kindergarten have worked very hard all year and they have accomplished so much! In Math, they are practicing counting and writing to 100, and many are adding and subtracting! In Science, they have done experiments all year, observing everything from how mold grows to the silly surprise that occurs when you combine certain ingredients to make “Elephant Tooth Paste”. The kindergarteners are looking forward to April, when they will be making volcanoes for Science Week! Teacher Gigi has also done a phenomenal job teaching these kids to read — we’ve got some serious star readers in Kindergarten and they are learning more everyday. They have made great progress with handwriting too! We are so proud of them.
In May, the kindergarten class will be performing an adaptation of Eric Carle’s, The Very Hungry Caterpillar written by the children with Teacher Marie’s help. Everyone is very excited to have our Assistant Director, Teacher Marie back at Morningside this spring. Teacher Marie has been at Morningside School for nearly 20 years and I’m pleased to announce that she will be back to teaching AM Kindergarten this Fall! We have missed her dearly and we celebrate her good health and her return to us! Hooray!!!!
