Policies and Parent Information

SCHOOL SCHEDULE

School for the 2024-2025 year will begin Wednesday, August 21st and Thursday, August 22nd. Morning sessions are from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Afternoon sessions are from 12:30 p.m.  to 3:30 p.m.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

When dropping your child off enter the circle driveway from the south and exit to the north.  A member of the staff will greet you up to fifteen minutes before classes begin and up to fifteen minutes after classes end. This is a grace period to allow a minimal back-up in traffic. Those arriving before 8:15 a.m. or after the grace period 3:45 p.m. will be charged $7.00 per 15 minutes, unless other arrangements have been made with the director.  Do not leave your car in the circle drive without a driver!   All parents are welcome into the school to observe or pick up their child, but park in the parking lot north of the school. Please call the school if there is a delay.  Children get apprehensive if their ride is late.  Your child will only be released to those on their approved pick-up list, so please keep it updated.

LUNCH BUNCH

There is an optional lunch hour each day from 11:30 –12:30. Send your child with a lunch marked with their name.  Notify the teacher at drop off. The charge is $7.00 per day/per child for this supervision. Lunch fees will be charged at the end of each month and can be paid with the following months tuition.

HEALTH POLICY

Morningside School requires parents to provide a copy of their child’s immunization records. We require records from your child’s health care provider–they can be emailed or printed.  Please inform the school if you child is ill. If you suspect they have been contagious at school, please call the school as soon as possible even if you are not certain. Children should not come to school if they have had a fever, have vomited, have thick, green nasal discharge, uncontrollable coughing or had diarrhea within the past 24 hours. If your child becomes ill at school, we will call you immediately.  If you are unable to pick up, the child will be removed from the classroom and made as comfortable as possible. PLEASE HELP PROTECT SPREADING ILLNESS BY FOLLOWING OUR HEALTH POLICY.

PAYMENT INFORMATION

Tuition is due by the tenth of each month.  Tuition will be the same amount each month unless you use our lunch supervision, early drop off or late pick up services.  These charges will be added at the end of the month and can be paid in the following months tuition.  Cash or check is accepted. We also accept PayPal payments through our website which includes a $12 transaction fee charged to the following month’s statement.  Tuition is the same amount each month even though some months have more school days. Tuition is calculated by a yearly tuition charge divided by nine.   We accept funds for Kindergarten tuition from the Utah Saving Education 529 account.  For more information see “my529.org.”

WITHDRAWING A STUDENT

A two-week notice is required to withdraw a child.  Tuition will continue to be billed until required written notice of withdrawal is provided.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Morningside has an Instagram and a Facebook page where we post pictures of children doing school activities.  On the registration form you have the option of opting out of us posting pictures of your child. We will respect your decision.

CLOTHING

Though we expect the children to arrive well-groomed, be aware students participate in painting and other hands-on activities which might soil clothes. Aprons are used for messy work, but they don’t catch everything.  Comfortable play clothing is best.  Send outdoor clothing appropriate for the season.  A change of clothing sent in the child’s backpack is recommended for the rare accident. Label the backpack with the child’s name.

BIRTHDAYS & HOLIDAYS

Each child’s birthday is celebrated at Morningside School!  You are welcome to bring a special snack that has been commercially packed, or fresh fruits or vegetables.  Other examples: crackers and cheese, small muffins, juice boxes or non-food items like stickers or pencils.  We celebrate “Un-birthdays” for those whose birthdays do not fall on a school day. Please contact your child’s teacher to arrange this special celebration.

SHOW & TELL

Children are not to bring items from home unless specifically requested by the teacher.

PETS

Animal friends can be fun and educational. However, due to allergies and other considerations, staff permission must be obtained before a pet may visit Morningside School. The parent MUST remain at the school with and care for the pet.

OUTDOOR PLAY

The children play outside each day unless the air quality is “Orange” or worse (air.utah.gov), or if we are in single digit temperature. Send appropriate clothing for outdoor play.
