Picture Days This Week!

October 2nd & 3rd, Life Touch will be at Morningside School to take individual and class portraits.  Every child will be photographed but you are under no obligation to purchase them. I should let you know that when you do purchase them, Morningside is given a small percentage allowing us to use it as a little bit of a  fundraiser.  The picture packets will arrive in 2-3 weeks after the shoot. You just select which pages of proofs you want, remove them from the packet and send the rest back to school. Prices will be listed in the packet.  Payment is made by check with the returned proofs or online by following instructions on the packet.  Questions?  Contact Jacqui!

School Begins Monday, August 25th and Tuesday, August 26th

Dear Friends of Morningside School,

It was so great to visit with all of you yesterday at the Open House!  I hope your child was able to meet his or her teacher, become familiar and comfortable at the school and is anticipating the 1st day of school with the same excitement that we feel!

This year will surely be an amazing adventure! Our first days of school are Monday, August 25th and Tuesday, August 26th. When you pull into the drive, be sure to pull as far forward as you are able in order to keep the flow moving as quickly as possible.  A teacher will greet the child at the car and walk them into the building. Please be patient for the first few weeks of school – the process becomes more efficient as we are more quickly able to recognize faces and cars.  It is incredibly helpful for you to have the card in the passenger side so that we can read the name from the door of the school.  You are welcome to park in the Senior Citizen’s Center lot and walk in if you are concerned about separation anxiety or have questions for me or your child’s teachers. Please do not leave your car in the drive and walk up, this creates a traffic jam and unsafe conditions for children, families and the staff. Safety is our ultimate concern.

The staff at Morningside will be tenderhearted with your child through this transition and if you would like a reassuring phone call during the first session, please make sure we know you would like us to call and we will happily do so.  I will be available most of next week to visit or to answer any questions that may arise.

Morningside School Orientation Open House

Hello Friends of Morningside School!

Though summer is only half over, our staff is busy preparing for another amazing year with a whole new group of children!  Our classes are filling up quickly now, and I want to be sure we have an accurate enrollment. If your plans have changed, please let me know so that another child can have the open slot.

Our Orientation Open House is scheduled for August 20th, 4-6 PM. This year we are asking that families with last names that begin with A-E arrive at 4:00, F-J arrive at 4:20, K-O arrive at 4:40, P-T arrive at 5:00 and U-Z arrive at 5:20.

This event is a great time to meet your child’s teachers and other families involved with our school. We will have refreshments (ICE CREAM) and some super fun activities for the children to enjoy while you visit information stations to be sure we have communicated all the important details for a successful start to the year.

We are looking forward to a fabulous new school year and the opportunity to build a safe, happy learning environment for your child’s first school experience. Our first days of school are Monday, August 25th and Tuesday, August 26th.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact me anytime.

Morningside Offers Two New Annual Scholarships

In honor of two special retired Morningside Teachers, Teacher Marie Morgan and Teacher/Director Mary Jarvis, Morningside School has announced 50% tuition scholarships in their names, “The Teacher Marie Kindergarten Scholarship” and “The Mary Jarvis Preschool Scholarship.” These scholarships will be available annually for children who would thrive at Morningside but would not be able to attend due to economic hardship. They can be applied for by speaking with the Director, Jacqui Gauthier.

Thank You from Teacher Marie

Last month we were able to collect enough donations to purchase a gorgeous pair of new glasses for Teacher Marie!  She sent a Thank You note to Morningside that we wanted to share with you.

Her note reads:

To my wonderful friends at Morningside School –

Thank you for my fantastic new glasses!  I love them and I can see so much better now!  I am sending you a picture so you can see how they look.  I hope you like it.  I miss my friends!  I hope all of you are having a happy springtime!  Isn’t it lovely to have so much sun-shine?  I love it.  I think of you whenever I go outside.

I love all of you and I miss you.

Love,  Teacher Marie

Teacher Marie,  We love you too.

Valley Dance Ensemble Visits Morningside

IMG_5855 It’s Fine Arts emphasis week!  Monday, Tessa Evans from the Valley Dance Ensemble – Cache Valley Center for the Arts came to school to lead us in a “dance” of the children’s book, The Dot, by Peter H. Reynolds.  What fun!!!  Ms. Evans used the text of the story to invent creative movements; kinesthetically bringing heightened understanding to the words as the children participated in the process of moving their whole bodies with meaning.  Tessa enticed reluctant participants like a master, and every child tried something new that day!   If your child came home bubbling about their experience, you may want to sign up for Ms. Evans classes at CVCA!  We are so grateful for her time, energy and talent! Thank you Ms. Evans!!!

Check this out!
