Meet Our Faculty

Amber Wiedmeier, Director

AmberTeacher Amber is a Cache Valley native that graduated from Utah State University in 2011 with a Bachelors Degree in Family, Consumer, & Human Development with a double emphasis in Early Childhood Education and Family & Community Services.  She has been a head Preschool Teacher at Morningside School for three years and this will be her second year as the School Director. Amber loves play-based learning and letting children get messy as they discover the world around them. She is passionate about music and dance and feels that they are a crucial part of making learning fun. Amber is an Old Grist Mill addict who also loves to bake, hike, dance, and camp. She finds her greatest joys in life spending time with her loved ones and feels so blessed to be a Mother.


Gigi Jacome, Kindergarten Teacher/Assistant Director 

Gigi_newTeacher Gigi graduated from Utah State State University in 2000 with a Liberal Arts and Science degree with an emphasis in science. She has been at Morningside School for over 7 years.  Gigi’s love of teaching young children lead her to begin the alternate route to licensure through the Utah Department of Education. She has been a kindergarten aide at Ellis Elementary and has taught Kindergarten at Bridger Elementary and Morningside School. Gigi loves to travel, ride horses and go hiking with her husband Oscar, and their children, Antonio, Carmen, Maria and Maya.


Rachel Smith, Head Preschool Teacher

rachel bioTeacher Rachel graduated from Utah State University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Family, Consumer, and Human Development with emphases in Child Development and Family & Community Services.  She enjoys helping children experience the magic of learning through play and creativity.  In her spare time, Rachel and her husband love to adventure through running, hiking, taking pictures, and other outdoor activities.  She also likes dancing, traveling, and being with family.


Devanee Smethurst, Assistant Preschool Teacher

Devanee GelterTeacher Devanee graduated from Utah State University with her Bachelors degree in Family, Consumer, and Human Development at USU. She has a passion for working with young children. She’s worked with children in many aspects including child labs, day cares, and nannying. She has also worked in the nursery at The Family Place and loved it there! She loves spending time with her family, including many nieces and nephews. She’s excited to be teaching at Morningside Preschool!


Carol Gackstetter, Volunteer Kindergarten Aide and Substitute


Teacher Carol, a retired early educator, has volunteered at Morningside School for the past five years, every Tuesday and Thursday, in our Kindgergarten classroom! She has a hilariously dry sense of humor — and always has a story to tell!  We are grateful for her dedication and feel so lucky to have her as a part of our team!


 Kayla DeCoursey, USU Student Teacher 

Kayla is a current student at Utah State University and will graduate with a degree in Family and Consumer Science Education. She will be a teacher at the secondary level, but may well be running the day care in a high school. She loves sewing and all other creative things, being outside in the mountains, and spending time with her family–especially her six nieces and nephews.


Madyson Lamb, Substitute Teacher 

madyTeacher Mady is studying Family and Human Development at Utah State University. Last summer she had the opportunity to spend time in Ghana, Africa working in an orphanage where she fell in love with the children and grew to love the culture. Mady likes to craft and travel in her spare time. She absolutely loves children and can’t wait to have another amazing year at Morningside!



Morgan Stout, Substitute Teacher 

Morgan Stout

Teacher Morgan graduated from Utah State University in 2016 with a degree in Family, Consumer and Human Development. Morgan has worked as an After School Club Teacher and a Nanny and loves helping children learn. She only has two younger siblings, but her husband, Ben, has four siblings and thirteen nieces and nephews! Morgan loves playing games and sledding with all the nieces and nephews when they come to visit. She and her husband love to go dancing and watch movies together. Morgan loves to be with children and cannot wait to start another year at Morningside!
