Amber Wiedmeier, Director
Teacher Amber is a Cache Valley native that graduated from Utah State University in 2011 with a Bachelors Degree in Family, Consumer, & Human Development with a double emphasis in Early Childhood Education and Family & Community Services. She was a head Preschool Teacher at Morningside School for three years and this will be her fourth year as the School Director. Amber loves play-based learning and letting children get messy as they discover the world around them. She is passionate about music and dance and feels that they are a crucial part of making learning fun. Amber is an Old Grist Mill addict who also loves to bake, hike, dance, and camp. She finds her greatest joys in life spending time with her loved ones and feels so blessed to be a Mother.
Gigi Jacome, Kindergarten Teacher/Assistant Director
Teacher Gigi graduated from Utah State State University in 2000 with a Liberal Arts and Science degree with an emphasis in science. She has been at Morningside School for over 9 years. Gigi’s love of teaching young children lead her to begin the alternate route to licensure through the Utah Department of Education. She was a kindergarten aide at Ellis Elementary and has taught Kindergarten at Bridger Elementary and Morningside School. Gigi loves to travel, ride horses and go hiking with her husband Oscar, and their children, Antonio, Carmen, Maria and Maya.
Susan Clark, Head Preschool Teacher
Teacher Susie worked as a special needs teaching assistant in preschool for 8 years at Fielding Elementary. While working she began school for Early Childhood Development and earned her associates in 2010 and her Bachelors in 2014 from Kaplan University. She lives on the Utah/Idaho border on the Idaho side of Portage Utah. Susie has been married for 20 years this year and has three beautiful teens! She loves spending time with her family, camping, swimming, riding their UTV and helping out on their Ranch. Susie is excited to get to know each Morningside Family and get to work teaching their children!
Makenzie Hawk, AM Assistant Preschool Teacher
Teacher Makenzie is working on finishing her Family, Consumer, Human, Development degree from Utah State University. She has been married for eight years and has two kids who are her world. Makenzie has done daycare out of her home for the past four years. She loves to spend spare time with family, playing volleyball, being outdoors, and organizing. She is so thrilled to be a part of Morningside this year and can’t wait to get to know all of the children and help them learn and grow!
Bambi Thompkins, PM Assistant Preschool Teacher
Teacher Bambi is from South Carolina but has been living here in Logan since 2007. She is currently working on her CDA. She loves children and has three of her own that are now full grown, and two grandchildren. Teacher Bambi loves to cook, spend time with family, and watch movies in her spare time. She is very excited to get to know your children and help them learn and grow!
Carol Gackstetter, Volunteer Kindergarten Aide and Substitute
Teacher Carol, a retired early educator, has volunteered at Morningside School for the past six years, every Tuesday and Thursday, in our Kindergarten classroom! She has a hilariously dry sense of humor — and always has a story to tell! We are grateful for her dedication and feel so lucky to have her as a part of our team!
Kelsey Montgomery, USU Student Teacher, T/TH All Day, 150 Hours
Teacher Kelsey is in her final semester at USU, majoring in Family, Consumer, & Human Development with an emphasis in Child Development. She has been working with children since she was 12 years old and she is excited to be working with the children at Morningside School. She has had different teaching experiences, most recently finishing a semester at the Adele and Dale Young Lab at USU. She enjoys reading and exploring different aspects of music. She has played the piano since she was eight years old and continues to enjoy music in her life. She is looking forward to the learning experience she will have at Morningside School and getting to know the children that attend school there!
Madyson Lamb, Substitute Teacher
Teacher Mady is studying Family and Human Development at Utah State University. Last summer she had the opportunity to spend time in Ghana, Africa working in an orphanage where she fell in love with the children and grew to love the culture. Mady likes to craft and travel in her spare time. She absolutely loves children and can’t wait to have another amazing year at Morningside!
Devanee Smethurst, Substitute Teacher
Teacher Devanee graduated from Utah State University in 2016 with a degree in Family, Consumer, and Human Development. Devanee did her student teaching with Morningside and was an Assistant Preschool Teacher for the 2016-17 school year. Teacher Devanee loves children and is excited to welcome her own child Fall 2017!
